Why do we need to collect this information?
There are a lot of entities out there with nefarious objectives. We would prefer that our website and systems not be compromised and/or exploited by such individuals and used to harm you, us, carrier pigeons, or otherwise negatively impact our shared objective of exchanging cool and useful information and services with you, our customers and collaborators. We use the information that we collect to monitor and manage activity on our site in order to protect it from compromise and misuse.
Aside from that, we use the information to provide you with our products and services. If you call and talk to us you probably want us to call you by your preferred name and title and not “fellow human” or the more gauche option of “hey you.”
